Debriefing

Learn what your story has to teach you

Begin by looking Back.jpg

Untangle your story and understand it

We’ve all got a story. Taking time to look back and glean wisdom from our experiences helps us identify and recreate the parts of our story that we want to carry with us into the future. This can help us avoid making the same old mistakes again.

In a safe space, we’ll help you untangle your story, learn from it, connect with your soul, and consider how to transfer that learning into your future.

Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do

Individuals, couples, families, groups, teams, and even whole organizations can, together,

discover meaning and use new learning to move forward through debriefing.

EVENT DEBRIEFING

Maybe you experienced something that wasn’t traumatic, but it was significant. That event had some meaning, and it would be helpful to have someone help extract that learning.

TRANSITIONAL

Before fully moving on, it’s important to look back and harvest the learning from your past season. Transitions are wonderful springboards for personal growth and discovery. Let us facilitate that for you.

TRAUMA

Processing your traumatic experience doesn’t make it worse. It helps the healing and, potentially, protects you from ongoing effects like post-traumatic stress.

YEARLY

You may not be making a big move; however, you still value reflecting and learning from the past before moving on to the future. A yearly debriefing helps you move on with meaning.

FAQ’s

What actually is a debriefing?

At its core, all “debriefings” are intentional interviews or discussions designed to bring clarity to an experience and draw learning and growth out of it. There are all kinds of debriefings. You can learn more by reading, "What in the World is Debriefing?"

How long does it take?

It all depends on what you want to debrief and how much of a verbal processor you are. A minimum time to set aside is 1.5 hrs. When people are debriefing years spent overseas, we can set aside several days or even a week. You can discuss timing during your free Discovery Session.

How much does it cost?

Individuals or couples

$42/hr Non-Profit

$63/hr Standard

Prices are for an individual debriefer (not debriefing couple)

Third Culture Kids

$35/hour

Teams

$75/hr - Non-Profit

$115/hr - Standard

Team debrief prices are based on one facilitator for teams up to 8 persons.

To figure out how long you should set aside for your debrief, and thus, how much it will cost, please register for a free Discovery Session. Based on what you share, we'll draw up a rough estimate of the time needed to debrief your situation.

Generally we consider 90 minutes a minimum for an individual, 2 hours a minimum for a couple, and 3 hours a minimum for a team debrief.

Why do my debriefing with See Beyond?

Many people offer debriefing. However, few are actually trained and certified in debriefing. All of our debriefers have been trained specifically in these skills and have been evaluated to meet See Beyond's high standards. This ensures you get a top-quality debriefing experience. In addition to our rigorous training and certification process, our debriefing is unique in other ways. We take adequate time to help you consider what you've learned from your experiences and how you might use those lessons in the future.

Can I do it online?

There is something special about sitting in the same room and seeing someone as they listen empathetically to our story. This makes in-person debriefings very special experiences if done with a skilled debriefer. However, face-to-face isn't always possible. If face-to-face were the only option, we might miss out on processing events or seasons from which we could truly benefit. So YES! An online debriefing is not only possible, but we highly recommend it, if doing a face-to-face debriefing isn't an option.

What is included in a debriefing?

First and formost, you have a chance to tell your story as fully as you'd like. Your debriefer will help you explore it using well-tested tools and techniques to elicit the pieces under the surface so you can hear them more clearly. You'll have a chance to look at not only your own thoughts and feelings, but the impact of the experience on your identity and beliefs. You'll have a chance to glean learning from the past and consider how it might help you as you move into the future.

In what other languages do you offer debriefing?

In addition to English, See Beyond has debriefers who speak French, Spanish, Afrikaans, Swedish, and several North African dialects.

 What Clients Are Saying . . .

With my business hat on, I always think about ‘return on investment.’ Debriefing has to be one of the highest ROI things I’ve done for my personal development and mental health in the past 10 years. I cannot believe the progress and ground we covered in such a short amount of time.
— Renee M.
I wanted to process all that has happened over the past years of living here to be able to effectively continue serving here. I was able to share honestly in a safe environment. It was both beneficial and encouraging.
— Julie

It was helpful to have guidance and dedicated time to process some of the events that have taken place during our time in Morocco. I wish we’d taken more time.

Our team debrief was very practical, creating a safe space for anything that needed to be processed. It helped bring closure to a hard year and gave me tools to continue the process on my own.
