Personalized Care
The Expat Life Isn’t Easy
What is Personalized Care?
Wouldn’t it be nice to have someone seasoned to walk with you, someone to help you process and navigate life overseas? Having someone journey alongside you on this cross-cultural road can make a huge difference—especially when that “someone” knows first-hand what cross-cultural life in your region of the world is like. Personalized Care is an ongoing, intentional relationship that is designed to help you stay healthy and “Do Better, Stay Longer.”
How Does It Work?
Personalized Care is an ongoing professional relationship designed to help you reflect on and navigate your cross-cultural journey.
1
Enjoy a Discovery Session
Discovery Sessions are 30-minute, free discussions to meet your potential Personalized Care Provider. You’ll get to know them a bit and talk about what you hope Personalized Care will do for you. Then, together you’ll consider next steps.
2
Choose Your Package
Whether you want to meet often or just occasionally, we can accommodate your individual needs for Personalized Care. You can choose one-off sessions or purchase multiple sessions at a discount, then spread those out as you wish.
3
Pair with Your Provider
This is the best part—meeting with someone whose focus is on you! Our providers live, or have lived, in North Africa, the Middle East, or the Sahel and are trained to help you learn and grow. Over time, you’ll have a growing sense of being known by someone who is there for you.
Personalized Care Approaches
We have 4 basic approaches of care to choose from. Just let us know your current thinking about what you desire when you sign up for your Discovery Session. We are pleased to offer Personalized Care in English, French, and Spanish.
DEBRIEFING
Debriefing helps you process what has already occurred. It’s a time to tell your story and find meaning through guided, reflection that will help you untangle the threads of your story.
COACHING
Would you enjoy looking ahead to what changes you want to see happen in the future? Coaching facilitates new awareness to accelerate learning and growth.
SPRITUAL DIRECTION
Spiritual Direction offers you space to explore God's will and your responses to it. Increasing self-awareness in your relationship with Him aids in growth and transformation.
MENTORING
Mentoring is for those who want more input or ideas to help them make progress in a new environment. We’ll help you explore on your own before giving you our thoughts.
Any two or more approaches can be combined to meet your unique desires. When you sign up for your Discovery Session, let us know what approach you think might be a good fit. We can make adjustments later if needed.

FAQs

See Beyond feels that everyone can benefit from Personalized Care. This life is tough, and we cannot walk this journey on our own. We believe that “prevention is better than restoration.” Our hope is that, by having someone journey with you, you will be able to “Do Better, Stay Longer” and avoid some of the common pitfalls and stressors of cross-cultural living.
The free, 30-minute Discovery Session will help you and the Personalized Care Provider determine if Personalized Care is what you really need for your current situation and season of life—or whether you need something else.
Wanting to take care of yourself and having someone join you in the process is a common desire among expatriates. We affirm you for wanting to take care of yourself so that you can “Do Better, Stay Longer.”
If your Personalized Care Provider ever feels that you’d benefit from more specialized care, they will refer you as needed.

Privacy is important to us. We will not share your information or the content of your conversations with anyone, except in rare circumstances.
We will share with appropriate authorities, specialists, and/or organizations, as legally or ethically required, when we hear about situations from our clients that involve harm to self or others. Sometimes, we might share with a See Beyond supervisor or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) when we are unclear on how to help you and need professional input to best serve you.
If the client’s organization or company is paying for the Personalized Care service, sometimes they will request a report from See Beyond. Our preference is to only report that the meetings are taking place. However, if more information is required, all three parties (the organization, the See Beyond provider, and the client) will determine, in advance, what will and will not be included in the report.

You will be matched with a Personalized Care Provider who we think will best meet your specific needs (season of life, location, gender, style [debriefing, coaching, mentoring, spiritual direction, combo]). You will meet with the same Personalized Care Provider each time, so that you can develop an ongoing, personal relationship with them.

We really care about finding a good fit for you. We encourage you to meet with your provider a few times and if it isn’t “clicking,” let us know. We can find a better fit for you, and we won’t take it personally. Feel free to contact us at katherine@seebeyond.cc or bryan@seebeyond.cc

Each of our Personalized Care Providers has gone through See Beyond’s rigorous application process. They are certified in debriefing and trained in at least one other skill set, like coaching or spiritual direction. We haven’t just taken their word that they have skills—we’ve observed and evaluated them to see that they meet our standards. They each live or have lived in North Africa, the Sahel, or the Middle East, so they understand what cross-cultural life is like.
