Meet Laara
A short subheading required
My name is Laara Davey, and I am from South Africa. I live in a very small, rural town in the northeast of South Africa. I am married to Bryan, and we have two adult children. My family and I spent 12 years in North Africa, from 2005 to 2017. I homeschooled our children during those 12 years while making friends in the local community and participating in the expat church in our town.
Before we left North Africa 2 years ago, I started training as a coach with See Beyond. I am now also training to become a spiritual director.
For me, life is all about hospitality. I love to host people in my home—preparing rooms, beds, meals, and especially some kind of delicious treat like cheesecake with blueberry topping or chocolate cake with buttercream frosting. I love to make people feel special and welcome.
Through coaching and spiritual direction, I like to offer “soul hospitality”—creating a safe space for people to focus on the unseen, yet vital, elements of their lives, and to treat them with the space and attention their inner lives deserve. I like to bless people with the special treat of discovering the presence of Jesus in their daily lives and to draw attention to how real and loving His desire is for them. Giving people the space to reflect on their thoughts, feelings, and actions, to increase their awareness of their current experience of life, to discover their deep desires, and to reflect on how to move forward into deeper fullness of life—that is my desire for the people I serve.
